We value healing by creating space for emotional processing, expression, release, connection, and play. Healing can be personal, interpersonal, institutional and ancestral. Healing helps us access and reclaim our full humanity. It is how we replenish and sustain ourselves, our relationships, and our partnerships.

We value humanity by seeing and respecting each other as whole, complex, growing, feeling, living and breathing people and citizens of the earth. We allow ourselves and each other to be vulnerable in order to awaken and sustain compassion for one another and our global community. We expect and welcome the messiness of the human experience.

We value interconnectedness by recognizing that we each play an invaluable role in our organization’s work and mission. Structurally, we are a living system operating in our own Seven Circle Model - we value our interconnectedness by tending to needs both above and below the “green line.” We cultivate a diversity of identity, experience, and perspective in order to grow, thrive, and evolve.

Joy affirms our humanity. We value joy when we appreciate the moment, celebrate and embrace levity. We believe that incorporating joy into our work fosters relationships, creates openness, releases tension, heals and repairs us individually and collectively, and cultivates creative energy that is necessary and important for our work to be impactful.

We value learning when we expect and celebrate messiness, mistakes, and teachable moments in our work to co-create a world that has never existed. We humbly acknowledge that we work in the realm of multiple truths and no right answers, so learning can take many forms. We support each other to learn in public and in private.

We value transformation by building structures, fostering mindsets, and creating interactions that enable power-shifting, emergence, integration, and change from the inside out.

We value love when we can hold its seemingly contradictory complexity by expressing affection, caring, compassion, and tenderness with each other - as well as practicing a radical honesty of truth telling and holding each other to our commitments. This requires us to invoke a love that emerges from the wisdom of those who have had the courage to call it by its name; to liberate its essence and power from the grasps of “the infantile American sense of being made happy.” For love cannot conjure the light to drive out the darkness of hate if it is only held in the passive comfort of a feel-good peace, absent of tension and conflict. We must be willing to acknowledge that “love does not begin and end the way we seem to think it does. Love is a battle. Love is a war. Love is a growing up.” We cannot deny that love is born “in the tough and universal sense of quest and daring and growth.”
