Evette Jasper joined the National Equity Project in 2022 after serving as a systems leader, facilitating collaborative partnerships in the pursuit of racial justice for 10 years. She launched the Office of Racial Equity and Social Justice at the Washington State Department of Children, Youth, and Families and led racial equity efforts at the former Department of Early Learning. She was also blessed to be a member of the women of color consulting team based in Seattle, Equity Matters.

Before state service, Evette was a student and labor organizer for over 6 years with the United Auto Workers advocating for working families, immigrant rights, and investments in education. She started her career and passion for early learning assisting in a preschool classroom as a Jumpstart Team Leader at the Denise Louie Education Center. She is inspired by the transformational leadership practices of Ella Baker, Grace Lee Boggs, Alicia Garza, and many more movement mothers. She strives to be a fully embodied leader and operate from a place of love, joy, and abundance.

Evette earned her bachelor’s degree in Political Science & Art History and Master’s degree in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies from the University of Washington. She currently resides on Puyallup/Coast Salish lands in Tacoma with her family. She’s healing her relationship to the land and earth by learning plant medicine and ancestral spiritual practices.
