Sunni joined the National Equity Project as an Education Pioneers Fellow in 2021. Originally from West Philadelphia, she moved to West Haven, CT to attend the University of New Haven where she earned a B.S. in Criminal Justice and expanded on her interests in social justice, education, and public service.

After moving back to Philadelphia, she served for a year as an Americorps VISTA, where she worked in the Office of Adult Education on education and workforce initiatives. She then gained an MSW from University of Pennsylvania, where she primarily focused on the intersection of social work, criminal justice, and education.

Before joining NEP, Sunni worked as an Out-of-School Time (OST) Coordinator for a Philadelphia nonprofit, Sunrise of Philadelphia, where she was committed to providing a supportive environment for youth to increase their self-awareness, build their confidence and discover their strengths. Outside of work, Sunni enjoys completing arts and crafts projects, creating digital products, and spending time with her family.
