Drew Watson
I am an 8th grade English teacher at Elmhurst Middle School in East Oakland. What inspires me as a teacher is the impact I can have on students and society as we think critically about the systems in place and how we might change them together to build a more equitable world. Building relationships with students is one of the best (and most fun) part of teaching! I am a huge English nerd (as well as an anime/fantasy nerd) and I absolutely love reading and writing in my free time, believe it or not. But mostly, I'm here to help students become advocates for themselves and their communities, I intentionally want to work with students of color to help them see the stars that they are!
