Marla Smith is currently a second-grade math teacher at Pittsburgh Langley PreK-8. She has been teaching second grade for 8 years, but she has over 20 years of teaching experience. Her teaching experience also includes Summer Dreamers and Summer BOOST Program teacher and Curriculum Coach, Pittsburgh Public Schools PreK Program, Higher Achievement, Shuman Juvenile Detention Center, SAT Prep Courses and even a course at the Pittsburgh Federation of Teachers, Educational Research and Dissemination Classes. To help prepare her to become an educator she attended Lincoln University, where she received a Bachelor of Science Degrees in Elementary and Early Childhood Education. She later attended Carlow University and earned a Master of Education Degree. Mrs. Smith is not only a teacher, but she is also a wife and a mom to two boys 19 and 23. Mrs. Smith believes in a quote by Malcom X “Education is the passport for the future, for tomorrow belongs to those who prepare for it today”.
